Concord, Mass. – The Play Ball Foundation is excited to announce that they have been selected as a member of the Boston Marathon Official Charity Program by the Boston Athletic Association. . As an official charity of the Boston Marathon in 2022, the foundation has received a limited number of marathon bibs from the Boston Athletic Association to field a team of charity runners that will run the 26.2 mile course on Monday, April 18, 2022.
All proceeds raised by the Play Ball team will be used to support programming for the Play Ball Foundation. Play Ball funds school districts in under-resourced Massachusetts cities to create and run middle school sports leagues, which leverage the power of sports and create and deepen school engagement for kids. The Play Ball Foundation programs work with over 2,500 students annually in Boston, Lawrence, and Holyoke.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in the 126th annual Boston Marathon, and are honored by the selection of the Boston Athletic Association" said Chris Lynch, Executive Director of the Play Ball Foundation. "For the past 16 years we've been helping “get more feet on the field" for Boston Public School middle schoolers. Supporting athletic opportunities for kids in Boston, Lawrence, and Holyoke through running the marathon is a great fit.”

Those who are selected to run in the 2022 Boston Marathon on behalf of the Play Ball Foundation will receive an official Play Ball Foundation Boston Marathon team uniform, access to a 16-week training program from a marathon coach, and fundraising incentive prizes and more.
