Dorchester), the Gavin (South Boston); the Edwards (Charlestown); the Irving (Roslindale), and the Rogers (Hyde Park).

The Play Ball! league also attended the Boston College vs. Maryland football game as the guest of Boston College’s Athletic Director Gene DeFilippo.

Play Ball Highlights

During the 2009/2010 school year, the Play Ball! Foundation put 400 new athletes on the field with the first middle school football and baseball programs in the Boston Public Schools.  During the 2010/2011 school year Play Ball! aims to more than double of Boston Middle School students on the field through our expanded football program, support for the first double dutch league, the second year of our baseball program and a new softball league.  As with the all Play Ball! leagues our collaboration with BPS principals, administration and the athletic department make it possible.  For more information about Play Ball! visit the website at  www.playballfoundation.org

About The Play Ball! Foundation

The Play Ball! Foundation was founded to provide Boston middle school students with a chance to play, build friendships and character through the lessons of sports – teamwork, communication and discipline.  Our mission is to give Boston’s inner city children opportunities to engage in athletic activities that will enhance their physical, social and emotional development. With a single goal of Getting More Feet on the Field we work directly with Boston middle schools to understand the needs that our fundraising can address in an easy and timely manner. Play Ball! is growing with the help of our volunteers — young professionals interested in providing their time and resources and with the community of school administrators, coaches, parents and students. For more information about Play Ball! visit the website at  www.playballfoundation.org
